Depend on the Lord at all Times

Posted on

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:4-5

Are there times when we depend on the Lord and times when we don’t depend on the Lord? The Christian life is to reflect Christ at all times and from this verse we cannot bear fruit unless we abide in him.  This implies we walk as Jesus walked and we depend on the Lord through the Spirit in order to bear fruit. Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6)

How can we go through our days aware that we are abiding in Christ and depending on Christ?  The Lord put it on my heart that I depended on him in my mind but not in my heart.  I am now in the process of knowing in my heart that I am dependent on the Lord.  In reality, we are probably not aware of how our life is dependent on the Lord more than we know.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8) If we always keep our eyes on the Lord with a thankful heart, we will slowly realize our dependence on Him to get us through life and to reflect Christ to the world.  The more we minister to others, the more we find our self in prayer and in the Word because we need Christ and his Word to bear fruit in our ministry.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)  The more thankfulness we give to the Lord, the more we know our dependence on him. The more dependent we are on the Lord for ministry and to get us through life, the more secure we become.  The more we depend on the Lord, the more secure we are in Christ.

Today, keep your thoughts on Christ and know he is with you. Commune with him and depend on his guidance through the day.  His desire is to help us through our day and bless us with peace and joy as to we strive to reflect Christ to everyone.

Prayer:  Fill my heart with dependence on you because you are God and creator of all things. Guide me as your servant with a heart of love, peace, and joy. Lord, thank you for being with me today and every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen
