Demon Activity Today

Posted on

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

1 Timothy 4:1

Satan knows that his time is limited and he is desperate to destroy as many Christians as possible. What’s more, he has fully deployed his demons to spread evil throughout the world. He directs his demons to derail all Christians from the narrow road of life. Satan shows himself as the “Angel of Light” by attempting to destroy the church from the inside. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3). Satan cannot control our thoughts, but he can influence them because he is an expert at tempting mankind. These temptations are put in our paths by Satan’s demons. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). We are in a spiritual war, fighting against Satan and his demons who control the world around us. We also fight against the people who are blinded by and serve Satan, most of whom don’t realize they’re doing it.

Satan’s demons can enter people, and they are efficient in controlling world events to influence our thinking. Satan tries to control our minds primarily through fear which can lead to addictions and sometimes mental illnesses. His goal is to control our thoughts and make us self-centered.

Satan is more successful in gaining control of our thoughts if God is not in our lives. People can be influenced by Satan to do extremely evil things. For Christians, Satan will temp us with anything to pull us away from God such as drugs, alcohol dependency, or pornography. All three of these temptations have reached epidemic proportions in the past few years. But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. (2 Timothy 3:1-4) These verses reveal the influence of demon activity in the lives of people.

As Christians we know we have power over Satan and his demons through Christ, who defeated Satan on the cross. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4) However it is vital to be aware of the temptations Satan throws at us in an effort to change our thinking, and to recognize the attacks from his demons. Satan tries to get a foothold into our lives so that he can slowly steer us away from God. Some of these footholds are pride, fear, self-righteousness, impatience, compliancy, and discrimination. We fight the evils of Satan with the power of God’s love, and it’s Christ who fights for us. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

Today walk with the Lord and know that Satan’s demons are out to make your spiritual travel difficult. Remember that Christ has infinite power over Satan and his demons and it’s amazing the power that we have through the determination to be victorious in Christ. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). Recognize when demons attack you through your worldly emotions, and claim victory in Christ. It is Satan’s demons who are attacking you to influence your thoughts and emotions. Victory is always yours in Christ.

Let’s Pray: Lord thank you for defeating Satan on the cross, enabling victory for those who depend on you. Lord, turn me into a powerful spiritual warrior, and help me to walk in your power and strength with my heart full of your love. In Jesus name, Amen
