Continual Closer Fellowship with the Lord

Posted on

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.

1 John 4:7

The more love we have in our hearts, the closer we are to the Lord because God is love. We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. (1 John 2:3) When we obey the Lord and are guided by the Spirit, we will reflect God’s love to others causing the love in our hearts to increase which will bring us even closer to the Lord.

We can read the Word and learn more about the Lord, but to have fellowship with the Lord we must minister to others with a heart of love and compassion identifying with Jesus in our hearts and with our emotions. The more we minister to the world, the more we depend on guidance from Christ through the Spirit. The more we need the Word, the more we need our Christian brothers and sisters, and the more we need to be in prayer. This is all driven by a heart of love to minister to others, and this is what brings us closer to the Lord.

We continually grow closer to the Lord as our hearts are filled with his love. We continually grow closer to the Lord by ministering to people, and the Lord fills our hearts with his love. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-39) When the love in our hearts increases, our love for the Lord and our love for people increases which brings us closer to the Lord

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8) Love is action driving us to minister to people with a heart of love and compassion. We continually increase our knowledge of the Lord, but it’s a heart of love that knows the Lord. The more love in our hearts, the more we know the Lord.

Today, see people as the Lord sees people and reflect his love to them. People respond to a loving, caring, non-judgmental heart. Encourage people, listen to people, pray with people, show all a caring heart.

Prayer: Lord, fill my heart with your love that I can reflect to others today. Guide me to soften the hearts of nonbelievers so they will open up to hear your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen
