Conforming to the Likeness of His Son

Posted on

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.

Romans 8:29

The Word tells us that God will mold us to conform to the likeness of his Son, which means we are to have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). We are created in the image of God and as our mind is renewing to the mind of Christ, we are becoming the person God created us to be.

What has God called us to do that enables him to renew our minds? The Word tells us to live in accordance to how God created us, which can be summarized by the following verse; Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did (1 John 2:6). If you want to live as Jesus, then read the four gospels and follow Jesus’ life. Look at where he went, what he did, and at his attitude of love and compassion.

From the Word we understand the life of Jesus so we can start to live the life of Jesus. We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands (1 John 2:6). When we try to live a life like Jesus’ life, we start to identify with Jesus’ thoughts and emotions, and this draws us closer to the Lord, seeking his guidance and understanding. We do this through the Word, prayer, and fellowship. This process renews the mind and changes our hearts.

Ministering to lost souls drives us into the Word, prayer, and fellowship. This is a continuous process of receiving and giving, and like a snowball rolling down a hill we spiritually grow more Christ-like. Without the foundation built on the Word, prayer, and fellowship, followed by ministering to lost souls, we will not spiritually grow. What good is it if we fully understand the entire Bible if we are not seeking to bring the good news of Christ to the lost world?

Today be conscious of living like Jesus and think of how Jesus would handle the situations you encounter. This will require you to slow down inside and seek the Spirit for Christ-like guidance. Think how much better things can be when through the use of Godly wisdom and guidance. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).

Prayer: Lord, guide me to reflect your Son, in my thoughts, my words, and my actions. Help me to be still inside and to walk in your wisdom and strength. Guide me to reflect your love to everyone today. In Jesus’ name, Amen
