Confidence in Christ

Posted on

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6

As we continue our obedient Christian walk, we can be confident that God will finish the good work he has begun. He will let Christ work through us in the power of the Holy Spirit, molding us to the mind of Christ. The day of Jesus Christ refers to the time of his coming when he takes us home to heaven and our service for him will be rewarded forever.

We thank God for his grace and his filling us with the Holy Spirit. The closer our relationship is to God, the more we learn to trust him, walking with him in confidence. Communing with God throughout the day will bring us closer to the Lord, helping us to hear his guidance through the Holy Spirit and filling us with confidence. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9) We can be confident God will perform his good work in us as he renews our minds, making us more like Christ. We surrender our lives to God, knowing we are imperfect but striving to be more obedient and to overcome our sins. The way we do this is by serving the Lord, letting his light shine in us, and never giving up. We can’t do this if Satan is condemning us. We walk confidently with the Lord, letting Spirit’s conviction bring us closer to him. We walk with repentant hearts, allowing God to continuously mold us.

Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. (Hebrews 6:17–19) We can be confident in God because God cannot lie. He is the great “I Am,” Creator of all things, and we can take whatever God says, all his promises, and believe with 100 percent confidence. There is nothing in life that we can be more confident in than the words of the Lord. We see God’s promises revealed throughout the Bible, and we see how he kept his promises in his Word.

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. (2Thessalonians 3:3 This verse is a great promise from God; he protects our souls from the evil one in the spiritual world. Praise the Lord that we can always walk with Christ, having the promise of eternal life with God. This promise gives us great comfort and the strength to endure the trials and tribulations of this temporary life.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18) We trust God’s perfect love and are confident in his promises, as he leads us through a fulfilling and abundant life to our eternal destiny. We see God keeping his promises in the Word and we see God keeping his promises in our life. It’s God’s love and knowing he keeps his promises that can take away our fear. Overcoming fear draws us closer to the Lord and draws the Lord closer to us. The Father and the Son desire to make their home with us.  Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” (John 14:23)

Today walk with confidence in Christ, knowing he loves you and all things are possible for God. He desires to bless you in everything, so place your trust in him. Nothing pleases God more than for you to trust him and he will bless you to validate your trust.  Be patient and wait upon the Lord.

Prayer:  Today Lord I will trust your promises and walk in confidence knowing you are with me. Lord, help me to hear your guiding voice through the Spirit, and to walk in your loving wisdom. Keep Satan and his evil ways far from me today so I can walk in peace and joy.  In Jesus name, Amen
