Climbing the Mountain

Posted on

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Are you facing a mountain in your life? It could be the loss of a job, sickness or illness, divorce, the inability to overcome an addiction, or death itself. Our lives are filled with mountains that can bring fear and worry, sometimes to the point that we don’t know if we can make it through another day.   This world is not our home, but even though we are Christians we still live in this sinful world. Many are living in fear for their lives because they are Christians. The Word says, Everyone born of God overcomes the world. (1 John 5:4). How do we overcome a world that places mountains in our paths?

Fear is Satan’s weapon to build mountains in front of us. But we have overcome the world because the Lord has given us his power to overcome fear from Satan. Whenever Satan attacks us with fear, we run to the Lord. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) We give our fear to the Lord and we trust him to guide us step by step. We trust him to give us the wisdom and the strength to destroy Satan’s mountains.

If we are to truly overcome the world we must let God change our hearts. We are holy. We live in this world but we are not of the world. This means we walk with the Lord and his ways and not the sinful ways of the world.   Our spiritual soul is connected to God even though our flesh is connected to the world. We minister to the world from the kingdom, guided by the Spirit. We see ourselves as the Lord’s servant, meaning he is in control. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) We cannot overcome the world unless we are free in Christ and no longer a slave to Satan’s fear.

Remember that the Lord loves you perfectly and he will protect your soul for eternity. Heaven is your home and you are an ambassador in this world for Christ. Trust the Lord completely and fight Satan with the power of God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) Trust the Lord and walk in obedience to his perfect will, because nothing pleases God more than our trust in him. It tells him we love him and know him.

Today, there is nothing in this world that you cannot overcome through the love and power of our Lord. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) When we walk in our own will, fear overtakes us. But when we walk in the Lord’s will, knowing all things are possible, he walks with us and we walk in peace and confidence. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (Isaiah 26:3)

Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to trust you more and to overcome any mountain Satan puts in my path. Guide me with confidence, knowing you are with me and will lead me over any mountain, taking away fear from Satan. Thank you for overcoming the world and taking me with you through this short earthly life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
