Christian’s Overcome Satan

Posted on

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

1 Corinthians 10:3-5

Satan’s goal is to attack every Christian, by getting a foothold and slowly pulling us away from God. But we are spiritual warriors, and we have the power of God to fight Satan’s evil and to live in victory, and our greatest victory is our home in Heaven.

Satan attacks us but we capture ever thought, and through the power of Christ we crush Satan and his evil. We have the attitude from Christ to live in victory and giving into Satan is living in defeat.  Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.(Mathew 4:3-4) Satan tempted Jesus ‘s flesh because he was hungry after being in the desert for forty days, but Jesus fought Satan with scripture. Satan twisted scripture, but Jesus brought the truth of scripture. We are careful because Satan will tempt us to twist scripture to fit our own desire instead of God’s desire.

We are in a spiritual war and Satan is at full power, and he never gives up but will continue to attack our weaknesses. In our own strength we will be defeated, but Christ has power over Satan, and we fight with His divine power. Satan tempts both or thoughts and our emotions, but the very first we do is call on the Lord and his power to kill Satan’s temptations.  If we wait the thought and emotion will be conceived in the mind and followed by sin.  If we slow down inside, we can slow the emotion which gives us time to call on for Lord’s power, but Satan wants us to rush into sin which increases the sinful emotion, which drives us into sin.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57) If we call on Christ when we are first tempted, his power will give us victory. For the first moment we are tempted no matter how strong the emotion becomes, call on Christ and pray for His divine power, because the victory is more rewarding than the sinful desire.

Today know you have power over Satan because God protects us from the evil one, and we will never be tempted beyond what we can endure; and knowing this we call on Christ for his power and wisdom; and we will live in victory to our last breath.

Prayer: Lord let me always know the power you give me when I call on Christ.  Help me to always live in victory over Satan.  In Jesus name, Amen
