Christ is Our Treasure

Posted on

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19-21

The Lord looks at our hearts which is reflects our thoughts, and reveals our priorities. Our spiritual war is between Satan tempting our priority to be in the world or having our priority in Christ and eternal life. When our priority is serving Christ, then our treasure is Christ.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, (Colossians 3:23) If we do everything as working for the Lord, if we follow the Spirit by reflecting Christ, and if our heart’s desire is tell others about Christ; then Christ is our priority. Giving the Lord priority means we are dependent on Christ being with us and guiding us in everything we do in life.

Our priority comes from a heart filled with God’s love, because love connects us to Christ. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) The word know means we have a close relationship with the Lord, and love motivates us to serve Christ.

Christ is our Treasure because he died for our sins, and made it possible that Heaven is our eternal home. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) No one loves us more than the Father and the Son.

Today, seek to serve the Lord by being a Light for Christ and do everything as doing it for the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, guide me in the Spirit to do everything as doing it for You, and help me to always give you priority in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen
