Christ is Our Life

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Colossians 3:4

Christ is our life means he is the center of our life and he takes priority in our life. God’s plan for ever Christian is for Christ to live in our hearts and guide us through the Holy Spirit.  This gives us freedom in Christ and gives us self-control through the power of Christ.  We lose nothing when our life is Christ, yet we gain everything.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) This verse from the apostle Paul describes someone whose life is Christ. When Christ is our life, we have the love, power and wisdom of God guiding us through life. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20) When our hearts have changed and is filled with God’s love, we seek to deny self and live for Christ.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) God created us in his image, and when Christ is our life, we will live the most fulfilling and rewarding life possible, because we are living the way were created.  We are filled with the Holy Spirit, guided by Christ who makes his home in our hearts, and now we are able to reflect the mind and heart of Jesus to the world.

For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. (Romans 8:13) Satan tempts us to live by our fleshly desires and to be self-centered. This life will never give us life to the full and destroy our eternal life. Satan knows the most fulfilling life only comes from God, that is why he tempts our fleshly desires. However, we can put to death the sinful nature of the flesh because we are governed by the Spirit. We give Christ priority over our fleshly desires, which means we deny self and follow Christ.

Today have life to the full by living for Christ. Walk is his love, power, and wisdom today; which will enable you to reflect Jesus.

Prayer:  Lord guide me today through the power of Christ. Keep Satan’s temptations away and help me to be governed by the Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
