Choose to Let Go

Posted on

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

John 8:32

The reason many Christians do not experience freedom in Christ is because they never choose to let go. They hang on to the world with things that compete with the Lord’s will, which means they are trying to share the throne with the Lord and sometimes they aren’t unaware of it. Freedom in Christ only comes when we have the faith to let go and truly become the Lord’s servant living in the truth.

Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” (John 11:40) These are the words Jesus spoke to Martha shortly before he revealed the glory of God by raising Lazarus from the dead. It is the same for us if we believe, we let the glory of God be revealed in our life.

If we are trying to walk with Lord and haven’t fully let go, then we are sometimes placing our will over God’s will. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25) We are guided by the Spirit so everything we do is pleasing to the Lord, and we cannot do this unless we let go. When we have the faith to live according to the Lord’s will, we experience life to the full. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

The greatest life possible is living as the Lord’s servant; as his ambassador. We pray and leave the answer in the Lord’s hands and we live free as his servant. He sustains our life with his love and power, filling our hearts with love, peace, and joy as we serve him. The Lord gives life to the full to those who live by the Spirit, and he has freed us from the world. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)

Today experience the freedom that comes by letting go and putting your faith in the Lord as he guides you through your day with peace, joy, and his wisdom. By letting go we show the Lord that we fully trust him and this pleases the Lord showing that we know him. When we please the Lord we are blessed.

Prayer: Lord, help me to let go of anything that is not pleasing to you. Help me to fully trust you in all situations and to walk as your servant. In Jesus’ name, Amen
