Can We Trust Jesus to Save Us?

Posted on

But God raised him up, having freed him from death, because it was impossible for him to be held in its power.

Acts 2:24

You can trust Jesus as both Savior and Lord. Trust matters. Because trust matters we generally do not accept things at face value. For example, if you hire a plumber to fix a problem in your home, you won’t hire someone based solely on their promise to do good work. Rather, you search for a plumber with the right credentials and a proven track record of quality work. That’s the plumber you can trust to fix your problem.

Throughout Jesus’ ministry, people struggled to trust him. People found it hard to trust that Jesus himself was the way back to God and not a return to the legal requirements of Jewish law. Jesus’ unconventional birth and choice of acquaintances made it even harder for his critics to trust his message. Not even Jesus’ miracles were enough to convert the unconvinced. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves, (John 14:11).

We can trust Jesus as Savior and Lord because God raised him from the dead. This seemingly small point is critical to the good news concerning Jesus. Jesus did not raise himself back to life; He submitted himself to the grip of death while he waited for God to act. The testimony concerning him, then, rests with God. By raising him, God vindicated Jesus’ faith and granted him all authority regarding the eternal fate of the living and the dead.… he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead. (Acts 17:31)

Be encouraged today! Faith in Jesus is not wishful thinking. The resurrection validates that Jesus has the power to save. The God who raised Jesus will also raise to eternal life those who trust in Jesus’ name. What a blessing it is to know that what was true and possible for Jesus is true and possible for those who follow him. His resurrection proves it!

Let’s pray. Thank you, Father, for your great promises concerning salvation. We choose to walk in faith and not in fear today, trusting that our faith is not in vain. Grant us the power to boldly share the message of Jesus’ resurrection in every circumstance, knowing that our eternal future rests securely in your hands. In Jesus name, Amen.
