Walk in the Light

Posted on

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. (1 John 1:5)

Light represents the goodness of God and darkness represents the evil of Satan. If we walk in the light, we are walking with Christ led by the Holy Spirit, and if we walk in the dark, we are walking with Satan’s deceiving lies.

While I am in the world, I am the light of the world. (John 9:5)

While Jesus was walking on the earth, he was the light of the world. When Jesus ascended into Heaven, the Father sends the Holy Spirit to those who except Christ as their Lord and savior. Now that the Holy Spirit lives within us, we are now the light of the world.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)

If we remember we are a light on a hill, we will do our best to reflect the light of Christ, even when we are alone. This is the divine purpose of our life and brings lasting contentment to our soul.

We are Light of the World

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)

Always see yourself as walking in the light with the Lord, and seek to avoid the darkness from Satan. Picture in your mind walking in the light, and that you are walking on the narrow road toward the light of God. And when Satan temptations come, avoid walking in darkness on the broad road, because in darkness we cannot see where we are going and we have no divine direction.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

We live each day seeing ourselves radiating the light of God, and we bring light to overcome darkness. We seek to always walk in the light, being a light in this world, and we become strong spiritual warriors, overcoming darkness that Satan tries to feed us.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  (Matthew 5:16)

If we follow Christ through the Spirit, we will be the light of life, and darkness will flee. We follow Christ and he will give us his power to keep darkness away. We keep our light bright by having fellowship with other Christians, by staying in the Word and in prayer, and we pray that no darkness will enter our soul.

But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matthew 6:23)

Whatever we see or hear in the world, or in our imagination, make sure to avoid darkness, because how great is that darkness within us. Always remember light takes away darkness, but darkness cannot take away light. If we see ourselves being a light in this world at all times, it will greatly help to keep darkness away.

Living in the Light

Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:37-40)

The scripture above tells us to care for others because we are doing it for Christ. We show our love for the Lord by helping others in their worldly needs and their spiritual needs. This is living in the light and it brings glory to God.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  (1 John 4:7

The Lord fills our hearts with his divine love when we follow the Spirit helping others, and reflecting Christ to them. Love in our hearts is what motivates us to help others, both in their physical and spiritual needs. The is one reason the Lord looks at our hearts, which is reflected by our thoughts, because our thoughts reveal our motivation. The Lord wants us to be motivated as Jesus was motivated, a heart of Love. We minister to the world and the Lord fills our hearts with his love. We are being molded to the image of his Son, and how can we be Christ-like without a heart of love?

We show the light of Christ when we show kindness, help others, show respect for everyone, and tell them about Christ. With hearts filled with the Lord’s love, being a light on hill is the desire of our hearts. We are created in the image of God and we are now living in the image of God love.

Blessings Living in the Light

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (Jphn10:10)

With hearts filled with the Lord’s love, God’s commands in the Word become natural and desirable.  Life is now about God and others and this is the life we are created to live; it is life to the full, meaning nothing is missing. A heart of love drives us to bring the light to lost souls, because our hearts hurt for souls that are deceived by Satan.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)

When we live in the light, Christ sets us free from being a slave to the world. We are living life doing exactly what we are created to do, we are free in Christ, and we know Heaven is our home.

One of the greatest blessings of living in the light; is that we continually get closer to the Lord which means more divine blessings feed our soul. These blessings continually increase till our last breath, then the blessing reach infinity as we step into the presence of the Father and the Son.

Living in the light, we know Heaven is our home.
