Biblical Prophecy
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
Matthew 24:3
Jesus answers his apostles about the sign of His coming and the end of the age. He explains in a few short verses which are easier to follow than the prophecy in Revelations. The events and their sequence is given, but the timing of these events is not given in Matthew 24 Some timing of the events is given in Revelations.
Jesus answered: Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. (Matthew 24:4-5) Satan’s main weapon is to deceive people with his lies that appeal to the flesh. And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. (Revelations 12:9) Are we seeing people deceived today, people all over the world going against Christianity?
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. (Matthew 24:6-7) Nations will be in conflict with other nations with rumors of war. Do we know of any nations against other nations?
There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. (Matthew 24:7-8) Nation will rise against nation, and famines and earthquakes will occur. Earthquakes are occurring everyday all over the world and many people are struggle for food and clean water. Have we seen any military conflicts? Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. (Matthew 24:9-11) Today many Christians are being persecuted and killed and governments are going against Christians. When the man of lawlessness rules the world, he will make war against Christians. Satan brings evil into the world for the purpose of destroying God’s people. We must maintain our faith in the Lord and we must know the Word so we want be deceived. Are we seeing the world going against Christians and are we seeing Christians being deceived?
But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:13-14) The Lord will give us His strength to stand firm, and to endure the coming events. Every Christian has the calling to bring the gospel of the kingdom to the world of lost souls.
Today remember God’s prophecies to tell others because many people are fearful of the future. Tell others if that except Jesus as their Lord, there is nothing to fear because the Lord will enable them to endure anything Satan brings in their life, and Heaven is their home.
Prayer: Lord let me live each day with end times in my mind, so I will be more motivated to bring Christ to others. In Jesus name, Amen
