Becoming Like Jesus
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 1:6
The Christian life is continual growth to become more like Jesus, and spiritual growth continues until our last breath. Praise the Lord as we continue to grow spiritually, because life gets better as we become more like Jesus, which results in a closer relationship with Christ. The Lord will guide us in the Spirit so we will spiritually grow and become more like Jesus.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14) We pray for the Lord’s help in following the Spirit, and we are tentative for the Spirit’s guidance. The Spirit will change the desire of our heart, convicts us of sin, enable us to recognize false teaching, gives divine understanding of the Word, and brings scriptures to memory. The more we desire to follow the Spirit, the more we know the Word, and the more pray; the more we be able to follow the Spirit.
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Roman 8:6) To spiritually grow our minds should be more on things of above than on things of the world. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) We see the world through the lens of the Spirit. The more we achieve this the more like Jesus we become, and the more peace and joy we have.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) Following the Spirit being a Light for Christ gives our life divine meaning and life to the full. Ministering to people is what the Spirit guides us to do, which is exactly what Jesus did. This is our first priority and the desire of our hearts, when our hearts are filled with God’s love.
Today seek to be like Jesus with kindness, joy, peace, and patience. Reflect God’s love and all the fruit of the Spirit.
Prayer: Lord guide me in the Spirit to be more like Jesus. And enable people to see the love, peace, and joy that comes only from the Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
