Be Still and Know God

Posted on

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 46:10

Many people are rushing through their days, to where rushing can become a habit. In the Gospels did we ever read that Jesus was rushing, or was he still inside and took notice of what was happening around him? Life is so much more relaxing and fulfilling when we slow down inside and walk with the Lord. Satan wants us to rush through life so things of the world will keep our minds away from God.

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. (Psalm 46:1) The Lord is always with us and guides through the Spirit. Our first priority in life is be a light for Christ, and how can we be a light if we are rushed? Since we are created in the image of God we should seek to be still inside, and if we are not still inside it could be genetic, or learned behavior. In any case we can pray for the Lord to help us be still inside, as we strive to be still.

Come near to God and he will come near to you. (James 4:8) God is always with us when we seek to be with him. Whenever we call on the Lord, he is there for us, but if we are rushing through life doing worldly things; are we calling on the Lord? Satan will use the world to pull us away from God, because he knows our flesh seeks things of the world.

If we are still inside, we can stay connected to the Lord and walk in his divine guidance and wisdom. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit and patience is a blessing because it keeps us from rushing through life.

Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. (2 Timothy 4:2) This verse tells to always be ready in season and out of season, to bring the Word to others. How can we do this if we are impatience, especially with people, and if we rush through life, it can cause us to rush in everything we do, including witnessing to people.

Today slow down and know the Lord, commune with the Lord and ask for his words and wisdom. Always be ready to bring God’s truth to someone, and have a scripture to overcome Satan’s lie that they believe.

Prayer: Lord, help me to slow down inside and always be connected to You. In Jesus name, Amen
