Be Specific in Prayer

Posted on

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Ephesians 6:18

The Lord hears our prayers and his desire is to answer our prayers, and the more specific we are in prayer the more the Lord knows the cares in our hearts. For example, when we buy a car we don’t just go into the dealership and say I want to buy a car, any car is fine. No we specify details, color, size, interior design, gas mileage, etc, and shouldn’t we care about the specifics of our prayers as much as care about the details of a new car?

So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him. (Matthew 20:32-34) Jesus could see they were blind, but he asked them to be specific for what they wanted Jesus to do for them. This is a simple example illustrating that Jesus wants us to put thought into our prayers.

It’s easy to pray for generalities, but we should be knowledgeable about what we are praying for. We bring Christ to the world by our understanding of what’s happening in the world so we can pray in specifics and minister to the world through prayer. We can minister to the world through the power of God with specific prayers.

Specific prayers often takes research from creditable sources to understand what is truly happening in the world. Satan has used his evil power to control many information sources such as television, radio, books, and people. We must search out credible sources to find the truth of what Satan’s specific activities are so we can pray in specific to fight this spiritual war. Remember, it is the Lord who fights for us, and our life is about God and others. We fight evil in our own life, now we fight for others all over the world through prayer, especially for our Christian brothers and sisters. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Ephesians 6:18) Pray for all of the Lord’s people, and pray in the Spirit, into the spiritual world.

Today, remember to pray in specifics and continue to pray leaving the answer in God’s hands. It’s our duty to pray and it’s the Lord who answers the prayer in his divine understanding and in his time. Trust the Lord completely and as his servant pray for whatever the Spirit puts on your heart.

Prayer: Lord, let the Spirit prompt me to pray in specifics whenever I pray. Give me a loving, compassionate heart to pray for all those in your divine family. Help me to never limit my prayers on geography, but to understand what happening throughout the world and come to you with specific prayers. In Jesus name, Amen
