Be Anxious for Nothing

Posted on

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

We can remain calm and relaxed in our soul if we are controlled by the Spirit and not by the world. The Lord wants us to be close to him so we are relaxed and peaceful in our soul. Our soul is the spiritual us — it’s our thoughts, desires, and personality.  If we seek to be relaxed and at peace, our soul must be relaxed and at peace.  The Lord continuously feeds our soul keeping us relaxed, peaceful, and content.

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. (Philippians 4:11) The apostle Paul learned to be content in all circumstances because he was close to the Lord and the Lord fed his soul with the blessings from heaven.  The Lord will do the same for us. Pray for a heart of love, peace, joy, contentment, security, and for whatever you need to reflect Christ to the world. When we reflect love, peace, and joy in this uncertain world, it’s a powerful witness of Christ.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) This is very powerful verse because if we remain still inside, it slows us down, and it brings great peace and relaxation. Living a secure life in Christ with his love, peace, joy, relaxation, and rest for our souls becomes very desirable to us. We easily recognize when Satan tries to make us rushed and anxious because the peace, contentment, security from Christ starts to fade.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29) Rest for our souls comes from Christ, therefore we pray for divine rest so we can reflect it to the world. When we see ourselves as the Lord’s servants, it takes a tremendous weight off our shoulders.  We live for Christ’s guidance by the Spirit, knowing Christ is with us, and we trust the Lord fully.  This is a life of freedom the Lord wants us to have.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) There is no freedom on earth that compares to the freedom that Christ gives us because we are controlled by the Spirit and not by the world. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36) We are free in Christ, our soul is filled with blessings from heaven, and we experience life to the full. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

Today, live with a heart of love, peace, joy, and contentment by remaining close to the Lord.  Reflect a heart that is relaxed, unrushed, and content. The Lord fills our hearts with his love and we know we have eternal life, so we have no fear of the future.

Prayer: Lord, fill my heart with the blessings from heaven so the blessings can be seen by the world. Help me to always remain calm with inner peace, and to be anxious for nothing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
