Ask, Seek, and Knock

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Matthew 7:8

When Satan tempts us, we ask the Lord for his power to overcome. It can become a good habit if we ask and seek the Lord’s help in everything we do, because it shows our dependance on Him. We can live in the Lord’s power if ask and seek.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20) If we are doing something that is the Lord’s will, and we call on the Lord for his power and guidance to be successful; he will provide. We must ask the for his power and guidance, otherwise we could be living in our own power.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5) If we truly trust the Lord with all our heart, we will depend on him for everything, and we will pray and ask for his power and guidance. If Jesus was standing beside us in the physical, would we ask him for his divine guidance? Jesus lives within us through the Spirit, and do we ask for his guidance?

I depend on God alone; I put my hope in him. (Psalm 62:5) The closer we are to the Lord the more we will depend on him in everything. We will ask for his divine help as we go through our day, to reflect Christ, to overcome Satan’s attacks, and to control our thoughts. We should seek to be with the Lord because we need is guidance in reflecting Christ in every situation, because Satan will try and pull us away from reflecting Christ. Satan will cause the world around to make us angry and have sinful thoughts, and we need to ask the Lord for his power to overcome these attacks.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) The apostle Paul strived to let the Lord guide every step of his life, and the Lord kept him alive through all situations; and He was with him when he ministered to people and when he wrote many books of the Bible. And the Lord will do the same for us.

Today remember to ask the Lord for his power and guidance. The Lord desires to help us through every day, and that is a great gift from God.

Prayer: Lord, remind me to ask for your power and guidance throughout the day, to reflect Christ, overcome Satan’s attacks, and to control my thoughts and emotions. In Jesus name, Amen
