Ambassadors for Christ

Posted on

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.

2 Corinthians 5:20

If we can see ourselves as ambassadors for Christ, it can help keep our focus on serving the Lord and help keep us eternally minded. It is important that we live in this world ministering to souls, realizing this life is a foreign land and Heaven is our home. Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. (1 John 2:15) We are to love the Lord more than anything in the world and our eternal life more than earthly life.

Satan’s goal is for us to love life in this world more than God and to keep us preoccupied in this life taking our thoughts away from eternity. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV) Keeping our thoughts on Christ sounds difficult, but the Lord can make it happen. When our hearts change and we live to serve the Lord with God’s love in our hearts for all souls, then our minds are focused more on the Lord than on the world. As we become closer to the Lord, we pray for his divine power to renew our minds to that of Jesus’ and keep our thoughts more on things above and not things of the world. This can keep our thoughts more on being ambassadors for Christ.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) When things of God are more interesting and fulfilling than things of the world, it becomes natural to keep our minds on things above. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23) The Lord listens to our thoughts which reveal our spiritual hearts. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)

We are ambassadors for Christ at all times meaning we reflect Jesus and we always seek to tell someone about salvation in Christ. And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! (Romans 10:15) This scripture describes an ambassador for Christ.  We are sent into our communities seeking someone to encourage and to work Christ into the conversation. As ambassadors, we pray for Christ to put people in our path to minister.

Today, see yourself as an ambassador for Christ and reflect the heart of Jesus to everyone. Remember Christ is with you and He is willing to guide you and give you the words and compassion to minister to someone because you are his ambassador in this world. Christ is no longer in this world, but he lives in Christians for the purpose of bringing the good news of Christ to the world.

Prayer:  Lord, guide me as your ambassador to minister to souls in this world. Give me the words with love, compassion, and a caring heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
