Always Closer to Christ

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

James 4:8

Spiritual growth is developing a closer relationship with Christ. We do this by knowing the Word, having faith that pleases God, living with divine power, and serving Christ. The closer we are to Christ, the more fulfilling our life becomes; and we know our home is Heaven.

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:8) The more we know the Word, and the more we obey the Word, the closer we will be to the Lord. We will realize that every command in the Bible is a great benefit to us, and worshipping, praising, and thanking the Lord; draws us closer to God and His Son.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) It is important that our faith pleases God, which means we trust His will over our will in all circumstances. When we fully trust the Lord, we will experience great peace. How can we not trust the Lord, he died for our sins, he loves more than we can imagine, and He guides down the narrow road to eternal life in Heaven? And Christ has power over the world and he gives us His power to overcome Satan.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20) We have the Lord’s power to overcome the world, He protects us from the evil one, and enables us to escape Satan’s temptations. But the Lord is faithful, He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3) No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 1013) These verses are example of the power we have over Satan.

If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. (John 12:26) We serve Christ because his guidance is perfect, and he will always be with us protecting our soul for eternity. When we serve Christ, we become totally dependent on Him being with us, and guiding us through the Spirit. How can we not depend on Christ, he is God, and all things are possible for Him, and He loves us beyond our understanding.

Today live by the Word, have total faith, know the power He has given to you, and seek to serve Him.

Prayer:  Lord, draw me closer to you, by living by Word and fully trusting you to guide me through life. In Jesus name, Amen
