All Christians are Missionaries

Posted on

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

Christians are a light to the world; it is our calling from God. A Godly personality reveals the Light of Christ by showing respect and kindness to everyone. The more our light shines the more desire we have to tell others about the good news of Christ. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him (Psalm 34:8). When our lights shine, helping and ministering to others, God’s love changes us to care more about others.

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did (1 John 2:6). When we live as Jesus lived, as light in this world, being a missionary becomes natural and our hearts are continually changing to become the heart of Jesus. A Christian will reflect Christ to everyone he/she encounters and will pray that the Lord will open doors for opportunities to minister. As we mature in our ministry and become more Christ-like, God will open doors. The more motivated we are to bring Christ to others, the faster we mature, and this is pleasing to God.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10).  Being a light in this dark world is the most fulfilling thing we can do in this life. To have a heart of love, reflecting Christ and living in the Spirit is absolutely the most satisfying life we can live. This is the way God created us and when we live the way we were created to live, life becomes full, with love, peace, and joy.

Today remind yourself that you are a missionary wherever you go. Greet everyone with respect and kindness, with a caring compassionate heart that is concerned about others. Turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding (Proverbs 2:2). Take time to listen and seek to understand others; this shows your interest in knowing others with a caring heart.

Let’s Pray: Lord, enable the Spirit to remind me that I am called to be a missionary at all times. Fill my heart with your love, so that being a missionary becomes natural and desirable for me. In Jesus name, Amen.
